PMI Tulsa Lunch & Learn - PM Opportunities with Small Business
Join us as we explore the project management needs of small businesses with Rupesh Agrawal, Ph.D. candidate in Business Administration. Small businesses serve as an economic engine for the US economy by employing 50% of the private workforce and accounting for 1.9 million new jobs in 2017. That said, only 50% of small businesses survive 5 years, dropping to 4% after 10 years. This failure is primarily due to limited resources and an inability to respond to dynamically-changing business needs.
Small businesses require special care in executing project management principles. Implementation of PM tools and techniques requires careful diagnosis of needs unique to the specific line of business. A blended consulting and project management approach achieves best results. A special case study is presented using Great Plains Sleep Specialist (GPSS), Inc., a large sleep management firm based in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
Rupesh K. Agrawal is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Business Administration, majoring in Management Science and Information Systems (MSIS). Mr. Agrawal has +14 years of international experience in product & business development, research, and consulting.
