  • Project Managers (from traditional or “waterfall” backgrounds) who want to grasp the concepts, principles, and methods of Agile
  • New practitioners (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Team Members, etc.) who desire a primer on core Agile concepts and approaches
  • Leaders and managers who are considering implementation of value-driven, adaptive planning techniques in their organization

Description:

This half-day workshop will give you exposure to the key concepts, principles, and methods of Agile.  You will leave the course understanding what it means to be Agile and a variety of ways to be Agile, including:

  • The history of Agile, including its foundational values and principles
  • A comparison of the most popular Agile approaches, including Scrum and Kanban
  • Discussion of the cultural and mindset challenges of Agile compared to traditional or “waterfall” approaches
  • An exploration of the changed role of a “Project Manager” on Agile teams Utilizing games, experiential learning, and open discussion, this course will expose you to an array of ideas, techniques, tools, and practices that you can use to assess whether Agile is a good fit for your team or organization and how Agile approaches could be applied to your area of work. 


Additional Notes:

  • Participants can expect to leave with a basic understanding of Agile and some insights about the advantages and challenges of implementing Agile at their organization. It is not designed to be a comprehensive walkthrough of all the processes that support Agile or a “one-size-fits-all” map to transition to Agile from traditional approaches.
  • This course can be valuable to Project Managers from many industries, including but not limited to IT or software development! We will explore various applications of Agile approaches in knowledge work. 
  • This course does not assume prior knowledge of Agile approaches.
